Otamot BBQ Sauce
This homemade BBQ sauce is derived from a Kansas City-style sauce, that is a great combination of sweet, smoky and tangy!
Otamot BBQ Sauce
Makes about 2 1/2 cups
Ingredients
1 jar Otamot Organic Essential Tomato Sauce **see note
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup molasses
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp liquid smoke
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
Preparation:
- Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pot and place over medium heat, whisking frequently. Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Continue to simmer for 15-20 minutes, until all the flavors have combined and the sauce has reduced slightly.
- This BBQ sauce works great baked onto a rack of baby back ribs or spare ribs, stewed in a slow cooker with pork shoulder to make pulled pork, or as an accompaniment to smoky brisket. The sauce will hold in the fridge for up to one month.
